Winnipegging

A couple weeks ago I flew to Winnipeg for about 10 days, to meet my new nephew! He's an adorable little peanut named Kenny:

  I took about a million pictures, but here are a few highlights (via my iPhone)...

It was a jam-packed 10 days but all-in-all a great trip. I got to spend lots of time with family, met up with an old friend for a great dinner out, and even managed to get a bit of sight-seeing in. Winnipeg is my hometown but I haven't lived there in over 15 years, so I kinda feel like a tourist when I visit there now :)

Hair Chalking

I first heard of hair chalking a few months ago, from The Beauty Department,

 and then A Cup of Jo recently reminded me of it again. 

I've been debating on 'streaking' my hair with some sort of fun colour for summer, but I can't decide which one to go for (pink, purple, bright red, blue, orange). I think chalk pastels might be the best way to try out each one... a whole rainbow of options!

Simple Pleasures

Little things that are currently making me happy:

• watching my little air plant grow
• planning for my trip to Winnipeg (two more sleeps!)
• cold-brewed iced coffee
• sweet text messages from my husband
• planning our anniversary (9^th!) mini-roadtrip (hopefully to Seattle!)
• looking at pictures of my newborn nephew
• the new single from Metric's upcoming album
• raisin toast with peanut butter
• the weather right now (warm sun with a cold breeze)
• raspberries on sale at the grocery store
• making new jewellery
• freshly painted fingernails
• working across the street from a coffee shop (particularly one that sells these amazing vegan Mexican chocolate cookies)
• long weekends
• sleeping with the windows open
• my cat's silent-meows
