thrifting & vintage goodies

my mister took me thrift-shopping this weekend and i was pleasantly surprised for a few different reasons;
- it was spur of the moment, and completely his idea
- he usually hates shopping, with me especially (i like a leisurely browse throughout the entire store, whereas he like to get in, buy what he needs, and get the hell out)
- one of the three(!) thrift stores he took me to was completely new to me - he had discovered it all on his own
- he didn't complain whatsoever when i showed him that i bought this...
(can i just say how excited i was to find this container?! HOW CUTE IS IT?!)

these pretties...

this sweet little spoon...

these great pyrex bowls (that are actually in much better condition than they appear in the photo - was having camera issues apparently)...
oh and i got these too ...
(just the liqueur glasses, i got the tray at a garage sale in Winnipeg)

while i was doing my little photo shoot, i decided to take some pictures of a few other thrifted/vintage goodies i've collected...
this amazing (new in box) coffee server from a yard sale (for $1!)

these kitchen containers... my mom gave them to me when i moved out on my own, i think (if my memory serves me correctly) they were a wedding gift to my parents when they got married... i have also seen the exact same ones in an antique store, in way worse condition, for quite a pretty penny!

the book on the left i got from a friend's garage sale, it's from the 40's and has hilarious "instructions" on how to be a good "homemaker".
the book on the right is from the 60's and was my sister's and mine when we were kids.

one of my faves - this little ceramic owl cup i got from a sweet little old lady at her garage sale last summer

and of course my vintage camera collection... the Polaroid is from a thrift store, the Olympus was my mom's, the Brownie was from a garage sale and i think the Instamatic was from Value Village.

i have others, but i'll save them for another time :)

whew! all this talk about vintage goodies and thrifting is making me want to go hunting again!

do you have a favourite thrifted or vintage goodie? i'd love to hear about it!

Aaaaah, I ADORE Pyrex. I collect it as well. I have a lot more tea cups than bowl though -- I think bowls are difficult to find!

Thrifting is so much fun and my list of good finds is long but my one of my favourites is an all-white Italian ceramic ginger-jar shaped lamp embellished with delicate china flowers and leaves found at Value Village for ten dollars, the lampshade cost me 50 cents.

Love your little camera collection. I've been resisting buying vintage cameras recently only because I then obsses over buying film and developing. If I had the cash I'd have drawers full of cameras!

PS
My encryption word is bleed. Interesting.
