garage sale goodies
the husband and i did a bit of garage sale hunting this weekend (or "garbage sale" as he calls it) and we had such a great time! we got up early saturday morning, got some coffee and then drove around to a few different neighbourhoods that were having multi-family yard/garage sales (which are the best because it's less stops but more shopping potential :) we could just park and then walk around to all the different homes. here are the goodies we picked up!

friday faves!
it's been a while since i've done a friday faves post and since it's the last friday of the month (!!!) i figured now is a good time.
i love that you can personalize pretty much anything these days. i just think it makes something that much more special. especially with monograms or initials. (maybe not so much your entire name splashed onto something.)
here are some fun finds from Etsy...
(all photos link directly to their source)
remember a few years back (maybe it was the 90's actually) when it was all the rage to carry a boring leather (or pleather) purse with your inital on it? no? perhaps you've blocked it. well, in canada it was a thing anyways. though i never had one - i think this tote would be a much better version. and hey, look, it's an "s" :)how cute would this scarf be for a fun little youngster?
this pin would be a sweet accessory to a woolly sweater or scarf in the cooler fall weather
um, i need this rad pillow. like, now. even the colours are perfect. not sure if my hubby would be a fan but it certainly would spruce up my boring beige couch!
i love love LOOOOVE this pendant!
oh look, another "s". maybe if i got one of these it would prevent my hubby from stealing it and forgetting it at work all the time. (or, even better, forgetting to wash it out too so that it grows mold for weeks before he finally remembers to bring it home and then i am gagging from the stench when i take the lid off and then have to throw out my favourite mug. and it was a gift. and it was a special limited edition so no replacement possible.) not that i'm bitter or anything.
i love alphabet prints. and these ones are fantastic because they are not too "cutesy" that you couldn't have them in a child-free home.or a wall in your home, either way.
a sweet little badge you could pin to a purse, scarf, sweater, ponytail, etc.
happy friday folks!

bits of my weekend (vancouver edition)

i seriously couldn't get over all the beautiful flowers (as you could probably tell)... and that was the first time in a long time that it didn't pour rain for my entire visit (except for a tiny patch on the drive back to kelowna) so needless to say we were outside a lot! just count yourself lucky that i didn't post the shot i got of some hairy dude playing beach volleyball in a speedo.

sleepy time
i'm going to be so tired tomorrow.
i'm up way past my bedtime, but i got into a crafty mood and couldn't help myself! it all started with watching the grey's anatomy season finale. i don't even know why - i hardly ever watch tv and i haven't watched that show in a couple years but i knew the finale was going to be on and for some reason i wanted to check it out so i recorded it earlier... and when i watched it a bit later i remembered why i stopped watching it a few seasons ago - i sob through the entire show. and this particular episode was TWO HOURS worth of sobbing. yikes. at least it was the finale so i don't have to subject myself to any more.
to relax a bit before bed i decided to make some jewellery... i think it will be for myself - but it may end up making it's way into my shop instead - i haven't decided yet. i made a cute little pair of silver owl earrings, and also a silver chain necklace with pink and red glass beads.
i'm really enjoying red and pink together these days - i know it sounds kind of cindy lou who-ish but i like it. is it okay if i'm too tired to take pictures and put them on here right now? you understand, right? it's also of course too dark to take nice pictures of them but maybe i'll manage to get a couple done tomorrow and post them before i go away to visit my mom in vancouver for the long weekend! (monday is a holiday in canada)
on a completely unrelated note, i found out some sad news today - my and my hubby's favourite special spot to visit was recently closed down indefinitely due to a giant rockslide (small car-sized boulders!) and a fallen tree, which demolished a bridge :( i guess we will have to go exploring for a new place some time very soon!
hope everyone has a great weekend! i'll be back maybe tomorrow - but tuesday for sure!
night night
